Durham County Council
Digital Media Officer
For five years I managed and developed social media channels for Durham County Council, one of the largest local authorities in the North East of England. During this time I grew the council’s social presence and developed its digital communications strategy across multiple platforms.
In this role I worked closely with teams across the council including communications, public health, events, highways and community services to produce content that informed and engaged a wide regional audience. This required the ability to adapt tone and messaging across a broad range of subjects — from community campaigns and public information to local events and council initiatives.
I led on the day-to-day running of the accounts as well as longer term content planning and campaign strategy. This included producing and managing campaigns across key council priorities, coordinating with external agencies and internal departments to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
As part of the role I regularly produced video content for social media in a variety of formats, including community stories, event coverage and short form informational content designed to reach and engage residents across County Durham.
